Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2026
This policy explains how Monicircle handles information across Community Savings, Cooperatives and Community Campaigns. It is placeholder content and should be replaced with counsel-reviewed copy before production use.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Monicircle ("Monicircle", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use our website and platform, including Community Savings, Cooperatives and Community Campaigns.
This is placeholder content prepared for design and product purposes. It is illustrative only and has not been reviewed by qualified Nigerian legal or privacy counsel. It must be replaced with a policy reviewed against the applicable Nigerian data-protection framework before this website is used in production.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including:
- Account details such as your name, phone number and email address.
- Group information you create or join, including group rules and membership.
- Contribution and payout records you or your group admin enter.
- Support messages and other communications with us.
We also collect information automatically, such as device and usage information described below.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Operate your account, groups and organization workspace.
- Verify identity and activate memberships.
- Record contributions, payouts and related administrative activity.
- Send notifications about your group and account.
- Maintain security, prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations.
- Improve the platform based on how it is actually used.
4. Identity and Phone Verification
Monicircle uses phone-based identity verification to confirm members and officers. We collect and store your phone number, verification status and related metadata to distinguish confirmed participants from unverified users, and to support the audit trail described in our product documentation.
5. Group and Membership Information
Group admins and authorized officers may enter information about members, including names, contact details and membership status, for the purpose of administering a group. If you are added to a group by an admin or officer, this policy applies to that information as well.
6. Financial/Transaction Records
We maintain records of contributions, payouts and related transactions associated with your groups. Where payments are processed through a third-party payment provider, that provider's own terms and privacy practices also apply to the processing of the payment itself.
7. Device and Technical Information
We automatically collect limited technical information such as IP address, device type, browser type, and general usage data (such as pages visited and actions taken) to operate, secure and improve the platform.
9. Service Providers and Partners
We work with third-party service providers for functions such as cloud hosting, communications (SMS/email) and payment processing. These providers process information on our behalf and are expected to protect it in line with applicable law and their own published terms.
10. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as your account or group remains active, and for a reasonable period after that where needed to maintain accurate financial and administrative records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
11. Data Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including access controls, encryption in transit, and audit logging of administrative actions. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. User Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or request a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
14. International Transfers, Where Applicable
Where information is transferred outside Nigeria — for example, to a cloud infrastructure provider — we take steps intended to ensure it continues to receive an appropriate level of protection, consistent with applicable law.
15. Children's Data, Where Applicable
Monicircle is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner inconsistent with applicable law.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice, such as by updating the "last updated" date above or notifying you directly.
